Biography

Dr. (Mrs) Vidya Shree Bharti was born on 10th July 1977 in the Madhubani District of Bihar. She completed her schooling from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ranti, Madhubani, BSc(Ag)Hons from Bidhan Chandra Krishi VIswavidyalaya, Nadia, W. B, MSc (Soil Science) from G.B. Pant University of Science and Technology, Uttrakhand and Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, India. She joined her Agricultural Research Service as a Scientist in the Indian Council of Agricultural Research on 27th June 2005. She served as a Scientist for two years at the Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal, and on 24th December 2007 she got transferred to the Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai.

She published articles, book chapters, training manuals, and the papers in National and International journals. Since 2012 She is working as a senior scientist in the Aquatic Environment and Health Management division of ICAR- CIFE Mumbai and focusing on her research in the area of soil-water management for aquaculture, biochar application in aquaculture, climate change study mainly carbon sequestration and greenhouse gas estimation and mitigation in aquaculture, pollutant remediation with biochar, remote sensing and GIS application for Aquatic Environment management and precision Aquaculture.

She has guided 13 MFSc students as a major guide and more than 20 as a member committee of MFSc and Ph.D. She visited CSIRO environmental lab, Australia as visiting scientist in 2022. She had worked on 11 projects and was awarded Geomatrix 2012, the INRIA Best Paper award at IIT, Mumbai in 2012, and the Japan Society of photogrammetry and Remote sensing outstanding Paper Award in Bali Indonesia in 2013. At present, she is working as a senior scientist and associate dean of student welfare at CIFE, Mumbai

Research Interest:

Biochar application in Aquaculture (soil health and water quality, productivity enhancement, Carbon sequestration, climate change mitigation (GHG); Bioremediation of wastewater through engineered biochar; Application of Remote Sensing and GIS for Natural Resource Management. Developed the package of practice for the biochar application in aquaculture and potassium-enriched biochar fertilizer and feed for remediation of potassium deficiency in fish and shrimp in Inland saline aquaculture system. Eutrophication assessment in coastal and freshwater; mapping the coastal litter and mapping of the natural resources through application of remote sensing and GIS.
